The Harrier Hawk

 For this blog it's about the NZ swamp harrier. My whole class had to do a D.L.O about a NZ native animal. Mine was the Swamp harrier here is the D.L.O:

  



In what way have the swamp harriers been important to Maori: To Māori, the harrier was a symbol of victory. Its effortless flight inspired a chant used by East Coast Māori when performing a difficult task like moving a heavy log:

Te kāhu i runga whakaaorangi ana e rā,

Te pērā koia tōku rite, inawa ē

How have the swamp harriers evolved over time? established in New Zealand less than 1,000 years ago. At that time the harrier's eyes were four times larger, and were also present.

What are some threats of the birds: Prey and climate change also poaching.
